I can begin by listing a number of adjectives – you know the ones that everyone looks for – I’m stable, funny, laid-back, self-sufficient, intelligent, independent, kind, trustworthy, articulate, ambitious, sweet, educated, and dedicated. All that is good, but what is true is this; what we all want is to be with someone who enters our thought at any second of the day and manages to put a smile on our face. Someone who makes us anxious to get home from work to see them, and hesitant to leave when we are in there company. Someone who after being with them for numerous years, still makes us get “that feeling”. Someone who completes us, not because we are lacking; but because we are missing that one thing that everyone wants, but very few experience – true love. Albert Einstein once said, “the significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were when we created them.” If you are reading my profile, then the problem you have is the same as mine – “relationships”. I have gotten to the point where I now understand what it means to be in a good, stable relationship - and I am ready. Commitment is key, Intimacy is key (emotional, physical and spiritual). The ability to love is key. Respect, trust and honesty are essential. You should never feel alone, like there’s nowhere to turn, because I believe that I have an obligation to ensure that I do everything in my power to make you happy, satisfied. I will be that person you can confide in, and not feel like you are being judged. I don’t have to agree with everything you say because I am opinionated, an intellectual at times, but I will listen to you - not just wait to speak. I will be honest about my feelings, keep the lines of communication open. I will never intentionally hurt you because I will think of you in everything that I do. I will not degrade you, disrespect you or humiliate you - but I will let you know when you are wrong. I understand that no-one and nothing is perfect. So you are allowed to mess up and not be strung up. I will not focus on your past mistakes and remind you of them repeatedly, because I believe in leaving the past behind. Focus on the future, on what can be or will – not what could’ve been or might. I understand that a relationship requires compromise, but sometimes we have to agree to disagree. I will cherish you, support you, defend you, protect you. I will be that person you never thought existed, in a relationship you never thought possible, if you are the right one.

The right one for me is the person who believes in reciprocity in a relationship. Someone who will also think of me in everything that she does, and has most of the qualities I listed for myself. Everyone comes with baggage because we are products of our experiences and that is how we view the world. Some of us learn from that, move on, and use them to better ourselves and the relationships that we enter later on. I'm looking for that person. That person who understands that this will be a NEW relationship. That, I am not your ex, and you aren't mine. A clean slate. Someone who is capable of trusting and loving me.
